SDC is founded on the principle of the acorn theory*. This perspective is built on the understanding that the human organism and psyche is a self-regulating, self-healing system. Therefore, as an acorn needs nothing more than a nutritive environment to grow into a mighty oak; the same can be said for the human Soul. The word Soul in this context is a secular reference to the ineffable unique call, inherent in each human heart; to bravely be oneself. SDC seeks to be a nutritive environment for both clinicians and clients, focusing on supporting their efforts to actualize their greatest potentials. Empowering them to architect the lives, relationships, careers and adventures that are authentic and meaningful to them.
