Since 1946, Sound Associates, Inc. has been known for industry leading design, equipment, fabrication, installation, and service for the performance industry that includes Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters, international tours, concert halls, corporate facilities, arenas, houses of worship and amphitheaters. Sound Associates is family owned and operated by brothers, Richard and Peter Fitzgerald, each internationally respected theatrical sound designers and members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local One. A longstanding pioneer in the industry, Sound Associates has assisted in the growth and development of audio and video technology with innovative concepts and groundbreaking applications, revolutionizing assisted listening at performance venues for patrons with hearing loss. In 1979, they introduced the first infrared listening system to Broadway Theaters, and in recognition of this accomplishment, received a Tony Award® honoring “the deep commitment to helping them (people with hearing loss) savor the treasures and pleasures of Broadway.” They continued their commitment to accessibility by adding I-Caption®, D-ScriptiveTM and Audien services, providing personal captions, audio description and foreign language translations as an on-demand service, available at every performance.
