The Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) is Ethiopia’s leading institution dedicated to advancing space science, satellite technology, aerospace research, and geospatial technologies. Our mandate spans from satellite design, assembly, and operations to the development of advanced aerospace systems and geospatial technologies, supporting national priorities in communication, earth observation, navigation, mapping, and scientific exploration. We lead the generation, processing, and provision of geospatial and space data, offering reliable services that inform decision-making across sectors. We also develop robust infrastructure, including ground stations, data processing centers, and research laboratories, enabling Ethiopia to independently manage and utilize space and geospatial technology for development and security.
