Spartan Design Group is an engineering consultant firm specializing in medical products packaging. The firm's principals, John Spitzley and Curtis Larsen have over 70 years of experience in the packaging field and over 65 years of experience in healthcare and medical device packaging. Areas of expertise include packaging design, development and performance qualification, material selection and evaluation, manufacturing process development, equipment selection, process validation, package shelf life test protocols and testing. They have extensive backgrounds in standards and test method development at the global level. They are authors of and experts in the conformance to the global strerile medical device packaging standard, ISO/EN 11607-1 & -2, having been active members of the global working group from it's formation through all the past and current pending changes. Among the clients have been firms supplying human tissue and organs, catheters, blood oxygenators, blood pumps, surgical and diagnostic kits, ocular implants, long term implantable orthopedics, urinary incontinences products, breast implants, heart pacemakers, heart valves, implantable cardiac leads and drug/device combination products. They have also worked with packaging material suppliers to introduce new products to the marketplace and equipment designers in developent of new and better sealing and testing systems.
