SPEAR is a lifeline to hundreds of people each year who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in London. We were founded over 35 years ago by Penny Wade, a Richmond resident, who was spurred into action by the deaths of two men who were sleeping rough on the banks of the River Thames. Today, our teams play a vital role to help end homelessness, finding people rough sleeping and providing holistic support to help people create lasting independence. We support people across the London boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton and Tower Hamlets. Our services include rough sleeper outreach, a variety of accommodation options, support for maintaining a tenancy and building life skills, and programmes to promote access to health and wellbeing services.
