Special Schools Voice
We believe that the special school community should be at the forefront of re-designing and establishing an assembly (group) that brings together key organisations to offer a point of reference for policy makers and government organisations. It is our intention to co-construct a “collaborative assembly” that has a single clear intention of offering a voice to special schools at this time of rapid change. Our aims are: • To co-construct and then maintain a Collaborative assembly with Special schools and Academies across the country • To listen to and understand the issues faced by Special schools and Academies, so that it can be a proactive partner in policy making and implementing practice. • To influence educational thinking at a National level by ensuring that Government agencies are aware of the implications of education policy making on Special schools and their pupils. • To support Government agencies during their consultations; ensuring that they engage with and understand the education needs of this very complex and diverse population within special schools and academies. • To raise and promote the profile of Special schools and Academies. • To enable schools to better engage and feel ownership of National agenda, feeding-back decisions and debate. • To represent the views and aspirations of Special schools and Academies, by identifying key foci for discussion and debate. • To act as a catalyst for National and Regional organisations that represent Special schools and Academies. • To operate as a transparent, accountable, not-for-profit, professional organisation within an identified quality assurance framework.
