Spiti Ecosphere

Ecosphere is a social enterprise born out of love for Spiti Valley and deeply committed to building a sustainable future for its people by creating a synergy between responsible travel and sustainable development. We envision making tourism beneficial and memorable for everyone involved – the environment, the local communities, and travellers. A unique collaborative effort of members from the local community of Spiti & professionals from diverse backgrounds, Ecosphere is the brain-child of MUSE (an NGO) that has been working in Spiti since 2002. Together with MUSE, Ecosphere has initiated various projects & activities in the Spiti Valley that have received worldwide recognition. Together these not only help create livelihoods for local communities but also support various initiatives. Ecosphere is today one of the most awarded responsible tourism interventions in the country, whose model is being replicated widely. Our Awards & Recognitions: Honored with the Sustainable Tourism Award by The Better India in 2022. Honoured with “Tourism for Tomorrow Award” under the Innovation category in 2014. Awarded as the “BEST IN A MOUNTAIN ENVIRONMENT” by Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards in 2010. Nominated for "CNN-IBN Indian of the Year" in 2009 in the category of Public Service.
