SSA Technical was set up by a group of multidisciplinary social Innovators who are passionate about using technology to improve the livelihood of youths in developing countries. SSAtech exists to fight energy poverty through the provision of technical skills training and affordable off-grid solar energy systems for rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is our mission to increase access to safe and reliable energy systems in the pursuit of decreasing household carbon energy dependency while increasing rural capacity and overall socio-economic livelihoods for Africa’s current and future generations.We envision a world where the youth of Sub-Saharan Africa is alleviated from poverty by empowering them to reach their full potential. We believe the keys to success will be the achievement of SSAtech’s two main objectives: youth empowerment through a comprehensive technical and job training program combined with the necessary capital for the development and distribution of affordable energy infrastructure. Without capacity building programs, the local communities will continue to lack the capacity to maintain and repair energy infrastructure. Furthermore, without the development and distribution of affordable energy systems, the necessary demand for youths to partake in technical training courses will not exist. It is the combination of both objectives that achieve a desirable outcome. Therefore, SSAtech’s model is circular and demand pulling. Without 1), 2) cannot exist, and without 2), 1) cannot exist. To achieve these objectives, SSAtech will collaborate with industry leaders and local organizations to design and implement a state of the art training and PV module scheme. SSAtech will adhere to the following principles: 1. Local ownership 2. Local empowerment through comprehensive training and education programs 3. Rewnable Off-Grid systems 4. Sustainability through a circular economy approach 5. In-depth data gather and impact analysis
