The Fromagerie St-Albert, founded in 1894, is a leader in the production of cheddar cheese curds in Canada. It is the largest producer of this cheese made from 100% pure milk in the country, which gives it the title of Canadian curd capital. The company is also known for its aged cheddar, which has won prestigious awards including the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix and the British Empire Cheese Show. Owned by some 50 dairy producers, the Fromagerie St-Albert employs more than 150 people, all guided by the same concern for quality and freshness, the hallmarks of the cooperative's success.
