Stichting Zaadgoed heeft een drieledige doelstelling: het bevorderen van biologische veredeling, bevorderen van biologische zaadvermeerdering en behoud van agrobiodiversiteit, oftewel de diversiteit aan rassen en gewassen in de landbouw. Dit doet ze onder andere door jaarlijks biologische telers en kleine zaadbedrijven te steunen bij het ontwikkelen van smaakvolle, robuuste, patentvrije en gmo-vrije rassen voor de biologische landbouw.
