1851 gründete Helene von Bülow ein Diakonissenhaus in Kaiserswerther Tradition, das die Versorgung und Betreuung von Kindern in Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, und Umgebung sicher stellen sollte. Zwischenzeitlich ist die Stiftung zu einem diakonischen Träger herangewachsen, die nicht nur Gesellschafter der Westmecklenburg Klinikum Helene von Bülow GmbH ist. Einrichtungen der Altenpflege gehören ebenso zu ihr, wie eine umfangreiche Betreuungsstruktur für Menschen mit psychischen Erkankungen.
