Stop Trafficking Africa

Stop Trafficking Africa rescues and repatriates Nigerian women trafficked to the UAE for sexual exploitation. Our mission is to provide emergency support to victims of sex trafficking and is funded entirely by public donations. We tell survivors stories to educate and raise awareness about the crime of sex trafficking, mobilise international action and disrupt the flow of vulnerable Nigerian women to the United Arab Emirates. Stop Trafficking Africa was founded by human rights campaigner Angus Thomas after a chance meeting with a young Nigerian woman in Dubai in 2019. She revealed that she had been tricked into accepting work as a housemaid in the UAE but immediately upon arrival was put to work as a bonded sex worker. The campaign has since rescued and repatriated numerous Nigerian and other West African sex trafficking victims. Stop Trafficking Africa has opened several criminal cases with NAPTIP, the National Agency For The Prohibition Of Trafficking In Persons in Nigeria. The most significant involved one of NAPTIP's “most-wanted” Madams and was the subject of a 6-month investigation by the International Coalition of Investigative Journalists, syndicated by Reuters https://bit.ly/SexTraffickingDubai. Our work has been extensively covered in the media including the BBC News, BBC Radio, BBC Pidgin, and Plus TV in Nigeria. Within the UAE, and across the world, millions of women continue to be trapped in the shadows of human trafficking.
