Straight Talk is a multi-medium platform for the peer-to-peer exchange of experience-based insights among CIOs, CTOs, and other senior technology executives. Launched in 2010 with the publication of CIO Straight Talk magazine, Straight Talk has grown to include a second publication, CTO Straight Talk; a series of interactive webinars and Straight Talk Live events; a LinkedIn group; Twitter feeds and a YouTube channel; and, in 2015, the Straight Talk Online website which serves as home to the Straight Talk community and its various programs. Sponsored by HCL Technologies, Straight Talk was founded on the belief that technology professionals are an often overlooked and untapped source of valuable and actionable insights. Straight Talk has featured the thinking of CIOs, CTOs, and other senior executives from nearly 100 companies, including Merck, Deutsche Bank, AT & T, Boeing, Lafarge, Biogen, EMI Music, Cisco, Electrolux, Xerox, Ericsson, Microsoft, WorleyParsons, and SAP. Of course, executives don’t have a monopoly on good ideas, so a variety of technology and business thought leaders have also shared their thinking with the Straight Talk community – Malcolm Gladwell on innovation, Thomas Davenport on business analytics, Nicholas Carr on the cloud, Robert Scoble on the “age of context,” Tim Brown on design thinking and the Internet of Things, and Michael Watkins on a CIO’s first 90 days, among others. Straight Talk has received an ITSMA Diamond Award, which recognizes the IT industry’s top thought leadership initiative, and been honored by the Business Marketing Association with an Excellence Award in Thought Leadership Marketing Strategy.
