Stride Adaptive Sports

STRIDE provides over free or low cost adaptive sport and recreation lessons each year to individuals with disabilities, focusing on youth and Wounded Warriors. STRIDE utilizes over 300 skilled volunteer sport instructors; serves over families; and offers programs in more than 17 different sports at 25+ regional locations in the Northeastern US. With a focus on individual lifetime sports, our programs use specialized equipment or teaching aids for successful participation to “level the playing field” for all. We are recognized as one of the leading adaptive sport programs in the Northeastern United States. Our Mission STRIDE educates and empowers individuals with disabilities in life-changing sport and recreation programs to sustain healthy, active and fun lifestyles Our Vision To build a community with equal opportunity and access for sport and recreational activities. No one should be left behind because of a disability. In partnership with school districts and other nonprofits, opportunities are provided to challenge people, potential and possibilities. Our most recent endeavor has been a partnership with Warfighter Sports providing sports opportunities to Wounded Warriors to help restore shattered lives of recently injured soldiers and Marines returning home from battle. STRIDE is completely funded by donations, grants and special gifts, and is designated a not-for-profit corporation under section 402 of the NYS not-for-profit law. It is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charitable organization and registered with New York State Office of Charities.
