Student Trading Optimization Club

Many people are interested in investing and STOC is the perfect avenue for students to explore their interests. Capitalizing on wise investment decisions is an amazing concept, and we want any students interested in the investment process to feel inspired by being involved with STOC. Each member should possess practical knowledge and courage that will assist them in their lives after graduation. Our mission is to work as a team to learn the process of approaching investment decisions and the market from a rational standpoint, with an emphasis on critical thinking. Our club will focus on four major pillars of financial markets: stocks, bonds, alternative investments, and personal finance. Specifically, we will take a deeper dive into performing fundamental analysis to analyze individual securities and engage in open discussions. Lastly, the club will learn from industry professionals through guest speaker events. Our equity portfolio utilizes an active management investment strategy to outperform the market, with a value-oriented style. The strategy we use focuses on large-cap core stocks, and our goal is to outperform the S&P 500 by at least 100 basis points with help from our screening models and input from STOC members.
