Studio Bumi

Studio Bumi’s vision is to build belonging using food as the tools, one table at a time. We believe that sharing a meal is one of the most approachable, powerful antidotes to loneliness – a timeless ritual to turn strangers into friends. Our name “Bumi” (meaning “Earth” in Indonesian) reflects a grounding in community and shared humanity. We are, at core, a food-experience studio designing spaces of connection within the loneliness economy. Our vision is a world where no one in a city has to feel alone, where there is always a table of friendly faces, though maybe a little nervous at the beginning, waiting to exchange that first “hi!”. Our solution is to cultivate those tables everywhere, one dinner, one office lunch, one community at a time. We see each gathering as a building block of belonging, creating ripple effects of social connection. If we can systematize this – making it easy for anyone, anywhere to organize a meaningful communal meal – then we can sustainably chip away at the loneliness epidemic.
