Studio Plaisier

Originally from South Africa, Wilma Plaisier immigrated to the Netherlands in 1992. For 10 years she worked as a pottery painter for the renowned Royal Delft, formerly known as The Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, the last remaining factory of the 32 earthenware factories established in Delft during the 17th century. Over the years, she was able to master a diverse range of painting techniques including the world-famous Delft Blue and the Red-Blue-Gold – an interpretation of the Japanese Imari porcelain technique. At the Art Academy (VAK Delft) in Delft, Wilma pursued the main subjects: perspective, still life, figure- and portrait drawing, painting techniques and the history of art. In the years that followed she was the owner of her own pottery label Delfts Plaisier, under which she operated as an independent designer and master painter of decorative pottery and various objects. In addition of designing and creating her own products, she regularly collaborated with other designers such as leading product and interior designer Marcel Wanders, designing and painting modern Delft Blue. For a period of 6 years, since 2017, she worked at Heinen Delft Blue as Head of design, where she was responsible for product- and pattern design for the beautiful hand painted Delft Blue collection as well as painting complex designs on earthenware in the Delft blue technique. Furthermore she designed the brand new Heinen Home Collection, including non-Delft blue designs. Specialties: Product design, Pattern design, Delft blue Master Painter, illustrator.
