Sumicsid Group

The Sumicsid Group is active in the analysis, design and reform of incentive regulation systems, contracting and benchmarking. Sumicsid is also a leader since in infrastructure regulation analysis in energy (electricity, gas and district heating). Based on state-of-the-art modelling techniques and analysis tools, Sumicsid associates perform regularly economic advisory services for national energy regulators in 18 countries in Europe, in addition to international organizations, European agencies and the commission. In terms of electricity transmission benchmarking, Sumicsid has been the initiator for all European regulatory benchmarks, from ECOM in 2003, ECOM+ in 2005, e3GRID in 2008 and 2012-2013. Sumicsid was also first in European regulatory benchmarking of gas transmission through the PE2GAS and E2GAS projects 2014-15. Sumicsid applies the strictest principles of integrity and avoidance of conflict of interest by assisting national regulatory authorities in economic consulting. Sumicsid also performs applied research to provide innovative solutions, to identify potential problems and to estimate the effectiveness of regulatory schemes. Our specialities are revenue-cap regimes, incentive regulation, yardstick regimes, DEA, SFA and COLS benchmarking, interactive and online benchmarking as well as competence building and training for client staff.
