Suncoast Humane Society

Suncoast Humane Society is a Regional no-kill animal welfare organization, founded in 1971. Our program and services include: adoptions, low-cost preventive health care, Pet Therapy, Foster Care, Lost and Found, Dog Obedience Training, and more. We serve Southwest Florida including Charlotte and Sarasota Counties, Boca Grande and beyond. Our shelter helps more than animals and people each year. Our Mission: Because pets need people and people need pets, Suncoast Humane Society provides sheltering to the most vulnerable animals, affordable preventive services to the community, and ongoing support for pets and the people who love them. Our Vision: Because pets need people, and together we have a lot of work to do to create a world where all pets are loved, we help pets and people live happier, healthier lives filled with love. Giving new hope to the helpless takes work, a lot of work and determination. Suncoast Humane Society loves and tends to those pets with no-one else to care for them, regardless of their health, temperament, age, size, or breed. We show up for them. We love them all. We do this by providing innovative programs through Sheltering, Prevention and Community Outreach aimed to care for pets and the people who love them. We rescue, house, care for, and adopt pets from our Englewood shelter. To expand our capacity, we have developed a network of foster families throughout the Suncoast region. Our innovative Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program, leverages the greater community to keep families together and foster the human-animal bond. To reduce pet overpopulation and illness, we invest in preventive efforts that include low-cost spay/neuter clinics, vaccinations, and other preventive care. Our community outreach programs, positive behavior training, pet therapy and community pet food bank, provide ongoing support for pets and the people who love them.
