Sunfilm was created in May 2009 through the merger of Sunfilm AG, Grossroehrsdorf and Sontor GmbH, Thalheim. Sunfilm is committed to producing the highest performing tandem junction thin film silicon modules by: • working with its suppliers to select the best components and processes, • continuously improving and optimizing all aspects of the manufacturing, • continually investing in R&D to further enhance the product performance. The main office of the company is in Grossroehrsdorf, about 30 km east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. A second production site is located in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany. With an installed capacity of approximately 85 megawatts peak (MWp) at the two current production sites in Bitterfeld-Wolfen and Grossroehrsdorf, plus an additional 60MWp of capacity under construction in Grossroehrsdorf, Sunfilm is already one of the world’s largest manufacturers of tandem junction silicon-based thin film modules. The production line in Grossroehrsdorf is being delivered by Applied Materials, Inc, Santa Clara, CA, USA and is the first of this level of advanced technology and capacity. It is Sunfilm’s goal to become a leading, global supplier of thin film based modules that are unsurpassed in value and performance. To achieve this goal, Sunfilm is backed by its main shareholders, Q-Cells SE Good Energies and Norsun All are renowned and experienced companies in the PV world, with strong connections throughout the whole renewable energy industry.
