Unlike other drying agents like clay or silica gel, our products actually ABSORBS AND RETAINS moisture. When conditions inside the sealed container change during transit these materials release the moisture back into the closed environment. This released moisture can easily exceed a gallon. Additionally, the moisture can be attracted and released many times compounding the chances for additional mold and moisture damage. Our Calcium chloride based products chemically change to a saline gel solution when exposed to moisture. The non-toxic chemical is wrapped in two mono-permeable (moisture in, not out) bags which can absorb nearly 400% of their weight in retained moisture. The bags are double-sealed and will not leak.
