Founded in 1993, Surface 678 is an innovative, award-winning landscape architectural firm focused on design, craft and stewardship. Providing architectural site design, urban design, community and recreational planning, and comprehensive master planning, Surface serves the academic, cultural, civic, corporate, healthcare, senior living, and recreation markets across the Southeast United States from our office in downtown Durham, NC. We are designers who search for unique and interesting solutions that are contextual to a community and its culture. Our core mission is connecting people and places through design excellence, pursuing planning and design objectives that are idea-inspired and form-based. In 2022, Surface 678 was honored with three rewards by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects: two Merit Rewards in General Design and one Merit Reward in Analysis and Planning.
