Sustainable Ties

European non-profit initiative bringing together the scientific community and economic players to make consumption markets sustainable. PURPOSE: A Key Initiative Sustainable TIES is an initiative that works to make consumption in Europe sustainable. Its objective is to create favourable conditions for changing market practices and regulation. APPROACH: Three Connected Activities The question of the sustainability of consumption is complex. Achieving the mentioned objective is not easy. Adopting a scientific approach applied to the actual experience of the market is essential. For this, three non-sequential work steps are implemented: prospecting, proving, promoting. STRUCTURE: Several European Non-Profit Sustainable TIES is formed by an endowment fund and associations with offices in several cities. The initiative is European because the domestic consumer markets of the European Union and the European Economic Space have similarities and are regulated by a common framework. Sustainable TIES is steered by an orientation council formed by leaders representing five colleges: academic, research, companies, non-profit organisations, administration. CONCLUSION: A Common Action The added value of Sustainable TIES lies in implementing an innovative approach to changing consumer markets. This is done by putting in place a link between the scientific community and economic players (companies, consumers and regulators) in European countries.
