Swarmed is a free community tool for reporting honey bee swarms or colonies to local beekeepers. When a swarm is spotted, the public can quickly create a report, instantly alerting nearby beekeepers who can safely relocate the bees. This process helps protect these vital pollinators and provides a bee-friendly solution to managing swarms, which are nature’s way of forming new honey bee colonies. Although swarms are typically not dangerous, they can be a nuisance to the public. Swarmed ensures they are handled by experienced beekeepers who transfer the bees into hives where they can continue to thrive. Without beekeeper intervention, it’s estimated that only one in four swarms will survive. Swarmed is working to save 100 million bees each year while contributing valuable research on honey bees and swarm health. By making swarm reporting simple and accessible, Swarmed helps sustain healthy bee populations and supports the essential role bees play in our ecosystem.
