Sweet Thea Cake Co

A European trained pastry chef & chocolatier, Thea (pronounced Tay-ah) has been creating dream cakes and delicious hand-made chocolates for over 15 years. Thea has been Pastry Chef at the world-renowned restaurants such as Sooke Harbor House, Cioppino’s, Umberto’s, ‘C’, the Vancouver Club and more. In 2009 Thea’s wedding cake business had grown to the level she resigned her post at the Vancouver Club to devote herself full-time to wedding cakes, thus the Sweet Thea Cake Company is born. In summer 2010, Thea’s husband, Laurie, began to bring her ‘fine-dining’ desserts to a few Farmers Markets. Terrific public response to delicious tarts, cookies, and pies made Sweet Thea a top prepared food vendor at several markets. Laurie quit his job, and started working with Thea full-time, receiving great acclaim at 2010 Circle Craft with German-themed Christmas baking (Lebkuchen, Stollen, and Fruitcake). In 2011 Thea continued to do a limited number of beautiful wedding cakes (awarded ‘Top Designer’ by Wedluxe Magazine). Busy enough to move from a home-based bakery to a new commercial space in Langley, Laurie went into Farmers Markets around BC, and quickly developed a loyal fan club of happy eaters. In October 2013 we put up a sign at the bakery, and a little front space so our customers can stop by. We are proud to be part of the Langley community, and even prouder to be part of the network of Farmer’s Markets around the lower mainland. Thea continues to wow brides with her amazing cakes and we are now sought out each weekend at farmers markets and public events by numerous Sweet Thea fans.
