Syngli Inc.(formerly known as NeuRecall Inc.) is an educational technology start-up, with offices in Waterloo (Canada) and Berkeley CA. The company is developing an online platform for increasing teaching and learning efficiency. The system includes software inspired by cognitive science, and a uniquely-structured knowledge base grown online by users. The system tracks each learner’s level of understanding, and uses these data to extract relevant information from the knowledge base and then generate novel questions. Key initial users include postsecondary students, as they prepare for standardized exams such as the MCAT. A longer-term market consists of secondary teachers and students, as they prepare for in-classroom and standardized tests. For teachers - overwhelmed by their existing responsibilities and pressures to “teach to the test” - Syngli automates and distributes the work of creating and grading the training and testing materials they give to students. For learners - in need of more individualized instruction and better scores - it increases the rate and retention of their learning.
