Systems Scholar is a human-centered consulting and training firm specializing in applied Human Factors Engineering, Lean Six Sigma, and Work Analysis. We partner with small and midsize organizations – especially in manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation – to help teams design smarter, safer, and more efficient systems. Our work is grounded in the belief that meaningful process improvement requires more than just cutting waste or streamlining flow. It must also take into account how real people interact with systems – physically, cognitively, and culturally. At the core of our approach are three foundational disciplines: Lean Six Sigma, which helps identify and reduce variation and waste in workflows Work Analysis, which focuses on how tasks are structured, measured, and aligned with operational goals Human Factors Engineering, which ensures that systems are designed around the physical and cognitive needs of the people who use them Most systems engineering efforts concentrate on the material and mechanical parts of a process – tools, metrics, and flowcharts. But at Systems Scholar, we also consider the human element: how people move, think, decide, and respond under real-world conditions. From ergonomic fit and workload to mental demand and decision-making environments, our goal is to create systems that truly work with the people inside them.
