TABLE is a platform working for a sustainable and ethical food system by helping stakeholders navigate the interplay of evidence and values shaping global debates about the future of food. The starting point for our work is that while myriad solutions for addressing our food system problems have been proposed, agreement and action are obstructed by increasing trends of misinformation, polarisation, and piecemeal, short-term thinking around the world. TABLE exists as an antidote to these threats. We produce and communicate accurate knowledge that explores contested food topics in their systems context, showing the interplay of values and evidence and clarifying why people disagree; we provide spaces for constructive dialogue within the food community; and we foster thinking for the long term by co-creating positive visions for the future of food, and pathways to achieving them. Together, these ingredients contribute to our vision: a better decision-making environment for food system transformation, built on shared understanding of the evidence and the values at play.
