Tankra Rugs

Cooperative de l'Art Authentique was founded in 2014 by a group of local berber rug experts and women weavers in the village of Taloust near Taznakht south Morocco. The cooperative's main goal is to revive traditional weaving techniques, reintroduce old and new natural dyes and provide fair and regular source of income for all the parties involved in making of our rugs with the main focus on the invisible artists, the women weavers. We are one of the few producers in the region that masters the natural dyeing process and enforce quality control to ensure the final product is a unique piece of art. Our dye master and president Mohamed Ait Ahmed joined Ait Khozema project founded in 1996 where he played a key role in the project success. He provided training and workshops in natural dyeing and design to the villages in Sirwa mountains where the project was launched. The Cooperative is now specialised in producing flatweave Akhnif rugs for the Ait Khozema project. Ou vision is to connect carpet weaving in Taznakht region with global market, galleries and museums, designers and berber carpet researchers.
