The founding company, Fibre Optics International was established in to target emerging business opportunities within the rapidly expanding telecommunications market, focusing on the installation, jointing, terminating and testing of fibre optic cables. The early days were spent working on network build projects, supporting utility contractors with major clients including, Cable & Wireless, NTL, Metromedia, Level 3 & Global Crossing. Following the successful handover of several projects, FOI continued to build on these relationships by undertaking, maintenance, fault rectification, and customer installations on behalf of the principle contractors. FOI was approached by several principle rail contractors to undertake fibre optic cable works on the National Telecoms Project (FTN/GSM-R), following the successful delivery of these works, FOI was approached to expand it’s operations to undertake a full turn-key solution involving all works required to deliver rail based telecom projects. The expanding range of services undertaken across several business sectors led the board to form the TATE Group company structure in 2009, where individual companies were established to expand the services offered into existing and new markets, while maintaining the quality and delivery ethos of the foundation business. TATE Group has built on this basis by steady investment in skilled and experienced staff and in new plant and equipment.
