Team Accelerace
We are an all-girl team from Linlithgow Academy representing the UK in the World Finals of "F1 in Schools". Our team members are; Louise Paterson, Isla Petrie, Louise Murray, Molly Ganner, and Aoife Sutton. On the 19th of March we represented Scotland at the UK Finals, held at the home of British Motorsport - Silverstone racetrack. We were able to win 1st Place in Development Class as well as the award for "Fastest Car". By winning, we qualified to represent the UK at the F1 In Schools World Finals, which will be held in Singapore in September. What is F1 in Schools- F1 in Schools is a global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) competition to design and race a model F1 car. Teams have to design their car using 3D CAD tools, while following the regulations set by the international rules committee, before manufacturing their car using CAM software. Teams also have to create two portfolios, a verbal presentation and pit display, as well as creating a business plan which includes gaining sponsorship and links with businesses to help them progress through the competition.
