Tedxums

Modeled after the flagship TED Conference in Long Beach, CA, TEDx is a global phenomenon of local, self-organized events that bring together thought leaders, business executives, students and philanthropists. TEDxUMS is a newly established organization run fully by undergraduate students based in University Malaysia Sabah at the heart of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In December 2018, the inaugural TEDxUMSKK event was hosted in UMS itself and it marked the beginning of a series of events aiming to expose university students to new knowledge and skills needed for personal development and growth. A series of workshops and forums have been planned and carried out by TEDxUMS committees in collaboration with field experts as guest speakers such as the following: • Accelerated Learning Workshop • Law & Ethics Workshop • Importance of Humour Workshop • Go Botak! Visit (CSR Initiative) • What is Politics? Workshop Upcoming workshops that are still in planning include topics related to entrepreneurship, wildlife conservation, gender equality, and more.
