Tenterfield Shire Council

Located in the New England High Country of Northern New South Wales, Tenterfield Shire is a place of striking landscapes, rich history and strong community spirit - just three hours south-west of Brisbane. Tenterfield Shire Council serves a region spanning square kilometres of mountains, national parks and productive rural land, supporting a close-knit community of around residents across Tenterfield and our villages of Jennings, Liston, Legume, Drake, Urbenville, Torrington, Bolivia and Mingoola. Cocooned by rugged national parks and heritage landscapes, the Shire is renowned for its natural beauty, outdoor adventure and relaxed country lifestyle - from bushwalking, birdwatching and camping to local food, vineyards and welcoming country pubs. As a local government, we work in partnership with our community to deliver essential services, maintain and improve infrastructure, protect our natural environment and support a resilient, sustainable future for the region. We’re proud to represent a place where history matters, community comes first, and there’s room to grow. Header image credit: Destination NSW
