That Year

CREATIVE STRATEGY, CULTURAL & CONSUMER INSIGHT, BRAND IDENTITY, EXPERIENTIAL MARKETING, GRAPHIC DESIGN CONTENT PRODUCTION, PRINT DESIGN. In addition to our ongoing independent projects, THAT YEAR operates as a full service studio for services including creative consulting, cultural and consumer insight, branding, experiential marketing and graphic design. We work with clients ranging from global footwear brands to independent music labels, from multinational automotive companies to artist collectives. The connective thread through each project is a deep commitment to contemporary creative culture, forging connections between Asia and the U.S. through art and design. Our studio work for clients always begins with informed perspectives- built up through immersive research and contextual appreciation. Whether it be a graphic assignment or a cultural insight report, our work is a reflection of many voices both within and outside of the studio – we are always in dialogue and collaboration with friends from internationally connected creative communities. Our studio is often on the move, creating and playing in Tokyo, Seoul, New York, or wherever the work takes us. When we are home, we are based in Portland, Oregon USA, in a hundred year old warehouse building which houses our studio, shop and event space amongst a community of fellow artists and designers.
