About 2 Cents Movement We specialize in communicating effectively with youth. For us finding the sweet spot where youth truly listen and feel inspired is critical. We are about engaging young people on critical issues relevant to their development and about inspiring a generation to discover the value in their ideas, their voice with the goal of them each becoming a confident, socially responsible citizen Key things that make us special: 1. We are about applying effective means of engaging youth - there is a science to successful youth engagement, and we see spoken word and art as a critical part of that formula. We are about more than talk. We want people to discover the value in their ideas - to believe in themselves and respect their own intellect - but most importantly, we are concerned with nurturing the development of a model citizen who is socially responsible and participative in addressing national problems. We believe that creative expression is missing from the school system and that youth need safe spaces where they can truthfully articulate their thoughts and ideas. The annual competitions and workshops provide a valuable platform to facilitate this process. We believe everyone has a story and that writing helps an individual to think deeply and understand their world in a more intricate way. We believe in a bottom up approach to change, that people have the power, that each person has to pitch in their 2 Cents. Everyone has a role and a voice. No group alone must lead change. We are determined. We are driven. This is a passion and a worthy pursuit that we guard seriously as an ongoing commitment.
