So many parents tell me how they leave it up to their child’s school to guide them with the right support for the unique learning needs of their child. Yet, unfortunately, their child is not progressing in a way these parents know they can. Or even worse, their child is saying they are ‘dumb’ or how ‘school is so boring/hard’ for them. Meanwhile, these parents KNOW their child is smart, talented, and has the ability to learn. Something is NOT adding up! I know, I know, everybody thinks that leaving it up to their child’s teacher, or school, is the best way to advocate for their child, but it’s just not true. At least not for certain children. My clients go from feeling completely lost and overwhelmed by their child’s education system, to feeling a sense of clarity, empowerment and in-the-know for getting what their child needs. My clients are SO empowered, they even know what to do/say even if the school is pushing back on them. The thing is, many parents, know DEEP in their gut that their child is smart and capable of learning, yet they just need someone to advocate for them, so they can, in turn, advocate for their child. The problem is many parents do not know what they do not know about the types of support schools offer, or even where to start looking for help. They may even be told by their child’s school, “Your child is doing fine,” when in their HEART they know, “Nah, something is not quite right here.” This leads to so much confusion and frustration! Sure, you COULD try continuing to rely on your child’s school to do what is best for them… yet it may lead to delaying your child’s confidence as a learner, and with WAY more struggles year after year. But the simple fact is, my clients have children who feel a sense of self-confidence and love to learn because we uncovered their learning needs. What’s more, my clients also know how to advocate for their child’s for years to come.
