Welcome to The Anderson Center for Health, Wellness and Contemplative Thought Louis P. Anderson, Ph.D. is the Founder and the Director of the Anderson Center for Health, Wellness and Contemplative Thought. Dr. Anderson has over 30 years of experience as a university professor, clinical supervisor, psychotherapist, researcher, consultant and an advocate for ethnic and cultural diversity. He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Houston. He has taught a range of graduate courses including courses in Professional Ethics, Psychopathology, Personality Assessment, Human Diversity, Adolescent Development, Health Psychology, Psychotherapy and Clinical Practicum. Dr. Anderson has supervised the research and the clinical work of over 200 students. Dr. Anderson has authored or coauthored over 25 articles and book chapters and has served on the editorial boards of several professional journals including the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and the Journal of Black Psychology. Apart from his academic experiences, Dr. Anderson has consulted or worked at a number of clinical settings including Medical Centers and Hospitals, psychiatric clinics, Veteran Administration Centers, and in addition, Adolescent, Juvenile Justice and Geriatric facilities. In his practice at the Anderson Center, Dr. Anderson conducts psychotherapy, diagnostic testing, consultation, and coaching, specializing in stress related conditions, trauma and chronic health concerns. His clinical interventions, based on current evidence-based practices, utilize an integrative biopsychosocial and spiritual perspective in optimizing health and psychological well–being.
