The Bogmen

The Bogmen are an alternative rock band out of New York City, founded by singer Billy Campion, guitarist Billy Ryan and keyboardist Brendan Ryan in Huntington, NY (1990). The line-up was finalized in 1991 in Boston with the addition of bassist Mark Wike, percussionist and backup vocalist P.J. O'Connor and drummer Clive Tucker after signing a production deal with music biz entrepreneur Mike Porciello and Gordon Meltzer (artist management, Miles Davis). It was the band's childhood friend Brady Buckley who first brought them to Porciello's attention, who then put the band in a house for a year to write, record and start touring. The band went its own way after their contract expired and paid its dues on the road for two more poor but prolific years before being discovered by music attorney Bob Donnelly and Arista Records A&R Lonn Friend at a sold out show in NY City's Limelight Club. Donnelly introduced them to The Invasion Group (artist management) and the band emerged with a major label deal on Clive Davis' Arista Records just weeks after. They released two albums: LIFE BEGINS AT (produced by Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), mixed by Tom Lord Algae and CLOSED CAPTIONED RADIO produced by Godfrey Diamond (Lou Reed, Aerosmith), who saved the project after the band had a falling out with producer Bill Laswell. It was mixed by Robbie Adams (U2). They received medium radio rotation with a cult hit "Suddenly" and a video by Matt Mahurin on MTV's 120 MINUTES.
