The Braj Foundation

Founded in 2005, this organization is engaged in the grass root development of the Braj region ( the land of Lord Krishna, sq km spread across UP, Rajasthan and Haryana HQed at Vrindavan, near Delhi), including afforestation, water management, sustainable rural eco-tourism development and rebuilding heritage sites. The Foundation’s efforts, which began with restoration of age old water retention tanks, commonly called ‘kund’s, have now spread to the revival of ‘sacred’ groves or ‘van’s, regeneration of around acres of hilly terrain or ‘Parvat’s into lush-green pasture lands, and resurrection of River Yamuna. Simultaneously, the Foundation is making several interventions in areas like organic farming, dairy industry, rural education, employment etc. towards the realization of its broader mandate; to reinstate Braj as an ideal rural society.
