The Cargo Cult is a boutique software company in Wellington, New Zealand. We design innovative audio plugins and tools for music, sound design and film post-production professionals. Our products have been battle-hardened on some of the biggest productions ever made. Chances are, if you've watched any major film or streaming service recently, you've likely heard the effect of our products. Software engineers often refer to "cargo cult programming"- the practice of following rituals that may not be necessary - but who can recall? In product design, we are even more tempted by dogma: imitating hardware, analog circuitry, and replicating old workflows in the digital realm. So we call ourselves “The Cargo Cult” – a reminder that the easiest person to fool is yourself.
