The Creative Gateway

It all started with a visit to Kakuma refugee camp. Walking through the dusty paths of the camp, our founder and program lead, Vincent Forsman, met young refugees whose dreams were often dimmed by circumstances beyond their control. What Vincent learned from their stories left him with a deep sense of urgency—a need to create pathways for them to escape the limitations of their situation. In October 2023, Creative Gateway was born out of this dream: to open doors for refugees in Africa to tap into the digital economy and unlock the potential of freelancing. With a focus on 3D modeling and access to global gigs, our graduates are now rewriting their futures, one project at a time. Imagine a world where refugees redefine what’s possible. At Creative Gateway, we’re making that world a reality. Since launching in October 2023, we’ve already achieved so much. Here’s what we’ve accomplished with our first cohort (and two more cohorts have since followed)-Graduates increased their monthly earnings from $15–30 to over $250-Top graduates are now working independently with global clients-25% of our graduates are women—and we aim to reach 50% through their leadership. We’re proud of these milestones, but we’re just getting started. Next year, we are scaling this concept to 10+ new locations to significantly expand our impact. We are incredibly grateful to our partners—Lutheran World Federation, Australian Lutheran World Service, and Act Svenska Kyrkan—for helping make this possible. We are ready to scale, and we need partners to help us expand our reach, connect graduates with real-world projects, and provide mentorship and freelancing opportunities.
