The Curvy is a curated collection of only the best in plus-size fashion. Our goal is to change the conversation around size-inclusivity and body acceptance by bringing better quality, unique and investment pieces to plus-sized women. We also take the heavy lifting out of shopping online by offering virtual personal styling sessions to plus-sized women around the world. The Curvy Shop was founded in 2018 by Aymie Rondeau. Aymie is a Chartered Accountant, and was inspired to start the company out of her own frustration trying to find stylish, well-made plus-size clothing for her professional and personal life. In February 2019, Aymie entered The Curvy Shop (formerly Curvy Collective) in the inaugural ATB Financial Build Her Business crowdfunding competition. For the month, she competed against 20 other female entrepreneurs from across Alberta. The Curvy Shop nearly doubled their crowdfunding goal of and earned a spot in the final round of judging. Aymie’s business plan was evaluated by a panel of industry experts, and on March 8, 2019 (International Women’s Day), The Curvy Shop was announced as the winner of the competition! Since then, Aymie has launched The Curvy Shop’s online shopping platform and continues to expand her relationships with size-inclusive brands like Eloquii, City Chic, ModCloth, Levi’s and more. The Curvy Shop’s blog and social media sites also discuss issues around size diversity, body positivity and of course, the latest fashion trends.
