The Denny Foundation

The DENNY Foundation is committed to social responsibility and exists to develop and auspice effective, holistic solutions to aid in the relief of poverty; and to support and advocate for individuals and families affected by: mental illness, depression, drug and alcohol addiction, and loss by suicide. The DENNY Foundation was established after the death, through suicide, of Dennis (Denny) Purcell. Denny was just 25 years of age and battled, for most of his short life, with mental illness, behavioural problems, isolation, and addictions. The overall emphasis of the Foundation is on developing and implementing practical programs which enhance well-being and resilience in children, young people, their families, and the community; as well as promoting and augmenting knowledge and understanding of the societal issues impacting upon these subgroups. In its project development, The DENNY Foundation relies on evidence based research and best practice methodologies; approaching the complexity of the societal issues involved in its projects in a balanced and scholarly manner. In all of its activities, The DENNY Foundation anchors its work in a constructive, strength-based philosophy; focusing on key issues in the community which embody the expertise of the Foundation and its professional team.
