The Dr. Robert E. Witt University Fellows Program

The Witt University Fellows Program focuses on the production of good citizens. Housed within the Honors College at the University of Alabama, this cohort-based undergraduate program emphasizes the critical intersection of empathetic leadership, curiosity-driven scholarship, and ethical engagement with communities. Witt Fellows, selected for not only their academic prowess but also their demonstrated commitment to servant-leadership and engaged citizenship, represent almost every available major in every college at UA. Since 2007, Fellows have pursued their individual studies in disciplines as diverse as biology, finance, and the fine arts alongside intentionally designed coursework and exclusive experiential excursions that pose questions—and require collective deliberation—about the nature of responsible leadership, the role of academic research in addressing social issues, and the joys and challenges of participating in civic life from the hyperlocal to the global stage.
