The Draco Lab

The DRACO Lab (Design of Resilient Architectures for Computing) at the University of Central Florida advances research at the intersection of hardware security, resilient computing, and intelligent systems. Led by Dr. Mike Borowczak, the lab develops techniques to secure and optimize computing architectures against threats such as side-channel attacks, hardware trojans, and emerging AI-driven exploits. Projects span novel workload detection and side-channel-resistant architectures to autonomous swarm intelligence and quantum-augmented encryption. DRACO offers a collaborative environment where undergraduate and graduate students work side-by-side on funded research, often in partnership with industry leaders like AMD and Northrop Grumman. The group emphasizes open innovation, hands-on design, and dissemination of results through publications, symposia, and outreach.
