The Get Up Movement

In southern Africa, there is a philosophy known as ubuntu. It is the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all of humanity. It is the idea that any action or event that impacts even one person, whether positive or negative, affects us all, in a ripple-effect fashion. The world we live in today is more connected than ever before. And yet at so many moments it feels more divided than we could have ever imagined. The Get Up is an organization aimed at educating and inspiring a community of empowered individuals. Our goal is to facilitate learning from one another about topics that most affect our broader communities today. As individuals, we have the ability to light the flame within one another and part of our goal is to inspire that initial spark. From there, we hope to empower collective, community based action that will lead towards a world with more understanding and acknowledgement of ubuntu. We are happy to have you!
