The Green Elephant - Uganda

The Green Elephant aims to develop an environmentally responsible, ecologically sustainable and economical biomass industry in Uganda. We are dedicated to producing safe, clean, cheap and renewable fuel. Because of the damaging effects of cooking on firewood and charcoal, the Green Elephant aims to provide the people of Uganda with a clean, safe and cheap fuel alternative in the form of briquettes and pelletes. These briquettes and pellettes will be made of locally sourced raw materials that are left over from certain production processes and woud otherwise be discarded. This way, we can make a meaningful contribution to the reduction of HAP (household air pollution) related ilnnesses and deaths, prevent massive de-forestation, reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and limit the risk of women becoming victims of gender-based violence during the fuel collection process.
