The Heartstringz Foundation
The Heartstringz Foundation is dedicated to lifting the spirits of hospitalized kids and senior citizens with a simple four-stringed instrument. We provide musical companionship, ukuleles, and lessons taught by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. We accomplish this mission in partnership with local hospitals, healthcare professionals and existing programs. We acquire ukuleles through donations and our corporate sponsors, many of whom are musical instrument manufacturers. Together we help kids fill their days with joyous music. Through our satellite program, we will ship ukuleles and instructional packets anywhere in the USA, so if you know a special someone who would benefit from our services, please send us a message and we will send out a ukulele right away. We also offer Skype lessons. A ukulele is fun to hold, fun to strum, fun to take just about anywhere. It is one of the easiest instruments to learn and play. Because of its gentle learning curve, playing the ukulele is self-rewarding and self-perpetuating. You just can't put it down once you start. Plus they're really cute.
