The Hero Collection

The Hero Collection (CC) was founded in 2001 in Cape Town, and is at the nexus of comics and pop culture. Now based in Pretoria, South Africa, and under new ownership, the company is expanding to serve not only Southern Africa but also the Middle East, in the distribution of action figures, toys, gifts and collectables. It is THC's fundamental belief that the pop culture community should have a place to go in order to grow their collections, but also the opportunity to buy the products at the intended cost, not the vastly inflated prices that drive people to shop out of country. As an avid fan and collector, the owner wishes to ensure that brick and mortar stores thrive. They are strictly B2B, however, will use their vast expertise and hugely popular social media channels to promote local retailers. The Hero Collection additionally offers an introduction service for comic artists and writers. THC has partnered with official comic conventions organisers to host competitions centred around both new and established artists to help increase visibility in previously under exposed regions. The promote these artists through sharing their profiles and work across the social media, and facilitates specialised commissions. Following their established run of successful collaborations with comic conventions in the UAE, Kuwait and South Africa, THC is uniquely placed to be able to liaise on behalf of artists and suppliers to either have stands and promotional areas at the conventions, or hold events such as signings in conjunction with the cons. They are also able to cross promote and link the artists with the suppliers, so that they can offer unique collaborations between the two. Team THC are officially registered with CBCS as authenticators and facilitators of comic books and collectibles. They coordinate with local store owners in order to collate items for slabbing internationally, but also witness signings at public and private events
