The Jamia Times

The Jamia times, an independent media initiative based out of Delhi in India, was founded in 2019, by two college students from Jamia Millia Islamia. The aim was to democratize news and to register a fearless voice against various forms of injustices that exist in our society. Over the years, The Jamia times has evolved into a nationally-recognized platform that continues to amplify the voice of the oppressed and the marginalized in India, including Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis, women, and other religious, sexual, and linguistic minorities. The Jamia times had played a crucial role in covering the student protests at Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University as well as the subsequent brutality of the police and riots in Delhi. We were able to foreground the truth that the majority of national media houses chose to conceal and manipulate. Our incisive analyses and editorial interventions have created a significant impact on the ground, yet our endeavor to resist erasure and to nourish a critical engagement with our world remains challenging.
